fairground rules and regulations

Ground Rules


Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited on the Fairgrounds, including lots and "contestant only" areas. Coolers containing beer or alcohol beverages are not allowed. Violators will be immediately removed from the property and my be permanently barred from the site. 

Competitors will park trucks and trailers in the designated parking lot. Vehicles are not allowed into the arena area. 

Abuse of animals or horses will not be allowed or tolerated, even if the animal is yours personally. 

Argumentative behavior, fighting or foul language will not be tolerated. Harassing stock contractors, fairgrounds or rodeo personnel, judges, timers, spectators or any contestant will not be tolerated. Violators will be escorted off the grounds without refund of any fees or admission. 

No glass containers allowed.

Private vehicles will be driven and parked only in designated areas. No recreational vehicles allowed. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. No chasing, roping, or careless riding, always control your horse. No Loose animals allowed.

Unsupervised overnight camping by anyone under age 18 is not allowed. Campsites must be clean, sage and litter free. No littering please. 

* The Sandoval County Fair is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property.

* Remove all personal property when leaving the grounds. 


Arena General Rules


Only Contestants, judges, officials or staff are allowed in the arena and staging areas. 

No sitting or standing on the arena fence.

Horses must not be tied to arena or left unattended around arena. Riders younger than age 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must wear a helmet, unless otherwise exempted by State law. 

Children under the age 8 must be under full time supervision of an adult who is not riding or handling a horse and who is not involved in training, or otherwise occupied in the arena area. 

Horses are not allowed inside the arena unless competing in the event taking place. Teams "on deck" for the event taking places will be required to be waiting outside arena. 

Dogs are not allowed in arena unless competing in event. 

Only heeled footwear is allowed, no sandals.
